2010 Team Canadas

Since projections for the 2010 Team Canada roster are all the rage nowadays, I thought I would get in on the action. But with so many great players to choose from, I just couldn’t stop at one team. If we were allowed to bring three teams to Vancouver, these would be the Gold, Silver, and 4th Place teams, respectively (Sweden would obviously beat the “C” Team, right?). So here they are, with players in the order in which I thought of them.

For my “A” Team I decided to go with players with proven track records of winning. Altogether there’s about 16 Stanley Cup rings, 10 World Championships, and a few Olympic Gold medals in there, and that’s just Scott Niedermayer. For this reason some players who may be more skilled but with reputations for shitting the bed when it counts the most (cough Joe Thornton) were left off to my “B” Team.

So let’s see the comments pour in from all you people who disagree with me saying who I should have put where and whose name I might have spelled wrong. I welcome your efforts to prove you’re smarter than I am, no matter how futile those efforts may be.

  1. Any time you can have a lead-footed 40 year old who won the Norris trophy more than 10 years ago and has a negative plus/minus for his career in your top four, you've got to do it.

Carey Price and Martin Brodeur should switch places.

  3. - I agree that Brent Burns was mistakenly overlooked.
    - Rob Blake should be on team C
    - What does Mike Green have to do to get on the A squad, score 100 points?
    - I'd take Turco over half of those goalies.
    - Brad Richards is no where to be found?
    - Ian White? Really?

  4. k, first of all, any player that may need a cane to walk by the time the olympics roll around, should not be on the team(blake, jovanoski, kariya). if were gonna do that we might as well bring back roy, sakic, yzerman, lemieux, borque and macinnis and pretend its 1998 again.
2nd, there is some more obvious talent on team B then some of team A. green, and bowmeester to start. also even though heatly is a dick, Team A could use his scoring ability.
3rd, ryan smyth sucks balls and should be on Team C at best.
and finaly the players i think could crack team C atleast would be: daniel briere, alex tanguay, marc staal, sheldon souray, brenden morrow, and george laraque obviously. I would also like to see mike fisher make the team so carrie underwood couldn't cheer for him, as she would cheer for her home country, causing a fight, which would end up in seperation hopefully, because she is far too good for that greaser.
